Hey everyone,
Recently, I've made a new plushie. I got the idea to make this type of plushie after seeing it a lot lately on Pinterest and Esty. It's these adorable octopus that are round and oh so cute that sometimes have mustaches or glasses. I really wanted one so decided to make one for myself.
Of course after the egg/turnip plushie fail, I wasn't so confident that it would turn out so well. Especially since it was again a plushie with more of a 3 dimensional form that I wasn't used to. But, I really wanted an octopus plushie of my own so I went for it.
Before I started, I went around looking for tutorials and I had found this particular one on
google images. Even though it was in japanese I was able to follow the instruction based on the pictures which was pretty neat.
This is the pic:
Just the pic alone made me more excited to try because it looked so darn cute!
So, after looking over the tutorial I saw that it was going to turn out tiny because it was meant to be a cellphone strap plushie.
I didn't want it to be so small so I decided to make it bigger.
I also wanted to make mine a girl so I opted out the mustache.
At first, following the tutorial was easy and I was actually getting the shape to form better than when I made the egg/turnip plushie.
That was a plus right there.
The only problem I had was that my shape was slightly cube like round, but I didn't mind it was still better than the previous fail attempt. haha
The hardest part I have to say was attaching the 8 legs onto the plushie. That was really difficult as I was not used to attaching
pieces after the body sewing was finished.
Overall, I think it came out okay. Doesn't look anything like the adorable mustache plushie in the tutorial, but at least it's unique and cute.
Here's how it turned out:
Thank you for reading my post. I hope you get inspired to make something out of your comfort zone, it might turn out better than you expect.
Thanks again and God bless!
I think it looks really cute! I like the idea of it being 3D.
ReplyDeleteThanks for liking it! It was hard to make, but I'm happy it turned out cute.
