Totoro Plushie

Hi everyone,

I haven't posted in a while so sorry about that. I'm posting today about my last christmas plushie. It was made for my sister and like always I'll first tell the story of how it came to be.
Oh and out of all the plushies I made so far this was the cutest and most time consuming ever.

On to story...
When I was looking for ideas in the beginning my sister was helping me figure out what to make for who. While we were browsing we came across a pick of a Totoro plushie someone had made. First let me say that me and my sister when we were younger were obsessed with Totoro stuff and became real huge fans of the maker so we love all the movies he's made. Anyways, she went crazy with awwwww I want one of those, it's soooo cute, I wish I had one...

So when it came the time to make my sister a plushie obviously I chose to make Totoro. Now a lot of people had tutorials and patterns to make all kinds of Totoro plushies, but if you remember I was like haunted by what my brother said about no creativity, so I made one myself from scratch. Again I had all sorts of measuring tools out and I started to draw out a pattern. I had to do this at midnight because she was on vacation from school and was at home allll the tiiimeee. So difficult to make family things incognito like. Haha

Also by this time it was three to two days before christmas and my mom gave me a surprise haul of all sorts of colored felt so I was happy to have supplies and finally make something that wasn't brown. Haha

The hardest and most time consuming part was cutting out the pieces and sewing on the arrow like shapes that are on Totoro's upper belly area. I don't think you guys can tell from the pics but I started out sewing the arrows on with fell stitches with like a cm distance from each stitch and then the longer it took to sew each one I was like screw it and started sewing each with only four fell stitches. Haha

All-in-all the plushie came out very cute. When my sister got it on christmas, my mom and brother had already opened their presents so when my sister went gasp it's Totoro I think they got a little jealous. Haha
It was really fun and stressful to make this plushie. I think it wouldn't have been so stressful mainly because of the time I decided to make it.
Also let me add that the Totoro plushie was a stuffing monster. It took like almost all of my stuffing. I think I'll have to get more stuffing before I make one again. Haha

Here's what it looks like:

I added a tail on the back

Thanks for taking the time to read my post and be here on my blog. I hope someone out there gets inspired to make their own Totoro plushie. Hope you guys stay creative.
God Bless and take care!
